Tempelhof Airport

Tempelhof Airport  was built 1936-41 according to plans of the architect Ernst Sagebiel, and later became famous as one of the main airports used during the Berlin Airlift of 1948/49. The airport was closed on 30th October 2008. The building now hosts fairs and events. The former airfield is open to the public. View from an Antonov An-2. Helicopters and a floatplane (taking off from the Spree river in Berlin-Treptow) can be chartered for sightseeing flights as well.
