Potsdamer Platz - Potsdam Square

The actual Potsdam Square is located here. (1)
Most of the historic buildings at Potsdamer Platz were destroyed during WW II.
In 1961, the Berlin Wall divided Potsdamer Platz.

The nineteen buildings of the Quarter Potsdamer Platz were built 1994-98. The leading architect was Renzo Piano. (2)

The architect Helmut Jahn designed the seven buildings and tent-like roof construction of the Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz, which was built between 1996 and 2000. (3) 

North of the Sony Center, the Beisheim Center with 5 buildings was completed in 2004. (4)

HVB Projekt developed the project "Park Kolonnaden" (5).

To the west of the commercial development at Potsdamer Platz lies the Culture Forum, one of the central museum locations of Berlin, including the Philharmonic Hall (6) and the New State Library (7). To the east, the octagonal Leipziger Platz (8) is being recreated.
