Schloss Charlottenburg - Charlottenburg Palace

The Charlottenburg Palace was built in several stages between 1695 and 1791 as "Lietzenburg Palace". It was renamed in 1705 in honour of Sophie Charlotte, the wife of Frederick I., King in Prussia. The main building was completed in 1699. The dome, the wings enclosing the courtyard and the west wing (Great Orangery) were added until 1712. The east wing ("New Wing") was erected from 1740 to 1746, the Theatre from 1788 to 1791. Charlottenburg Palace contains a large number of rooms and halls with original interiors.
