The catholic St. Hedwig's Cathedral was built 1747-1773. Allowing the
construction of a major catholic church in predominantly protestant Prussia was
an expression of the religious tolerance of King Frederick the Great.
The building at the left of the picture is seat of the Archbishop of Berlin.
St. Hedwig's Cathedral is part of the Forum
Fridericianum.
